Mommy, Why does Kindergarten go so fast?

I was so proud of Zach but I couldn't post right away.  I had to make sure it wasn't too good to be true.  I'm not even going to write about how I thought the day was going to go or why I thought it was going to go that way!  I am just going to be proud and thankful and happy that our first day of Kindergarten was perfect! After a lot of discussion and preparation, the first day finally arrived.  As I watched him line up in single file, I gave him one big hug and kiss and he said "Watch me go in, mommy!"  And that was it.  I really didn't get anything done at work that first day. I just could hardly wait to get him.  When I arrived, I was welcomed with "Today, was great."  Our party animal also doesn't pay us a visit during the sleeping hours either anymore ... a Miracle!  So about a week in, we are getting ready and this how the conversation goes:

Zach:  "Mama, the day after tomorrow ... is it Friday already ... again?"
Me:  "Yes, buddy it is."
Zach:  So, tomorrow .. it's Friday - the weekend?"
Me:  "Yes, it's the weekend, again."
Zach: "Why does Kindergarten go so fast? I mean, the week goes by really fast."
Me:  "Because you are having fun.  When you have fun, time goes by fast - because you are happy."
Zach:  "I am happy!  Jeremy's school (and his school up until two weeks ago) didn't go by that fast."
Me:  "I know buddy ..."

Needless to say, we are thrilled with Zach's class, teacher, progress and most of all the huge smile on his face!

Our last few days of summer were filled with all sorts of summer-time shenanigans.  We enjoyed snow cones at Shave-It and pool parties with our good friends Laurie, Ryan, Katie and Jeremy + the rest of their wonderful family! I always get a kick out of watching Katie and Zach grow throughout the years.

Home Sick

I know I shouldnt be happy about the boys being home sick.  But when they are a little sick for me to stay home and not sick enough for me to worry; I kind of like it every once in a while.  Lots, of TV, chicken soup and group nap time.  You can not go wrong with that!

An Old Fave

When Jeremy was born, and we lived in Orange County - we stayed the night at the Hyatt in HB.  This time, we took a day off, coordinated with some friends and stayed the weekend.  It was perfect timing, since we were in the middle of a heat wave.  You really can't beat the beach, waterslides, smores and a vodka soda or two!

Stay-cation

Josh and I needed a night away without all the stress of actually going away. We stayed at the Westlake Village Inn and went on a wine tasting tour in Malibu. Much to our surprise, our group included four sorority girls, the same age as me, that grew up in the same area, and were Jewish. Do you think we had anything in common that day? We had some serious fun! So much so, that we didn't even make it out that night. see below ...

A Birthday Party!

Last year was such a blast we did the same thing all over again!  Slip 'n Slide, Pinata, and Good Company.  Happy Birthday Buddy!
