Hawaii

Words cannot explain this trip to Maui - it was simply amazing.  It was our first real family trip with the boys.   The flight going to Hawaii was perfect.  The boys sat the entire time, played games, watched Sponge Bob on the iPad, etc.

We stayed at the Marriot Ocean Club, which was again perfect.  We really did not need to leave the resort.  It had water slides, great pool, great bar, great hot-dogs...., and the beach was steps away. Every day was sunny, with a nice breeze.

Jeremy's birthday was on the 17th, a day we were in Hawaii.  We got him a cake at the local market, which he loved so much that he wanted it for breakfast every morning.   We spent Father's Day at Dukes for dinner.

We did a few things like surfing with Randi's old friend, Zach (who happens to live in Maui and is a surf instructor), did a catamaran with snorkeling, barbecue and drinks.  Somehow, Randi happened to know one of the crew members on the boat (or should I say, knew Randi's friend, Melissa...ha...ha...).  We also do a Luau at Old Lahaina Luau, which was a lot of fun.

We really did not want to come back - seriously.  We came very close to buying a time share at the property, but, we held back.  Some day for sure...

Off to Hawaii

There is a lot to catch up on (Mother's day, Zach's last day of school, Jeremy's birthday party, Zach's last baseball game, etc...) but wanted to write a quick note before Hawaii.  A big thank you to my wife, who did an amazing job this year spending once a week (the entire school year) in Zach's class, teaching the children. Zach loved when mommy was in the classroom every Monday!  Thank you all around for being a great mother to the boys, and literally being all over the place (even with a full time job)!

We are off to Hawaii tomorrow - It's our first real family vacation.  Looking forward to the trip and spending time with the family.

And what better way to start this trip then with my new bottle opener flip flops that Randi gave me for Fathers Day.  Yes, only Randi can find these neat gifts...  Looking forward to opening my first beer on the trip...

And thank you Zach for the cool rock and bag!  I love it.

Jeremy's 3rd Birthday

It's hard to believe that Jeremy is 3 years old!  He's growing up so quickly and not a baby anymore... Although, we still sort of treat him like a little baby...

We had Jeremy's birthday at Scooter's Jungle.   We have never seen Jeremy so excited for anything.   Although he refused to go down the big slide, he loved playing ping pong, ride the scooter, and playing in the bounce house.  What made this place perfect was that we had this place all to ourselves.

Mother's Day

To the best mother in the world, Happy Mother's day!  I love you.

This year, we went to Mediterraneo at Westlake Inn for breakfast.  It was very relaxing and the boys actually sat!  Grandma Shayne joined us - yes, it was still relaxing.  After breakfast, we went to feed the ducks at the nearby lake, which the boys really enjoyed.

And even more birthday fun!

One of the best things about 2012, were the new friends I made.  I feel ridiculously fortunate to have been offered a job that offers intellectual stimulation coupled with work life balance.  I also have been so fortunate to have met and pretty much instantly bonded with an amazing group of moms from Zach's school.  So..... we rented an SUV along with a driver for the day and went wine tasting.  Maybe it was the sun, or the wine - or the combo; it did get a little out of control - but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Birthday Time

So ... since I am writing blogs in April for the month of February - I can easily reflect back with a sense of humor much more than I would have been able to, had I been in the moment.  Josh planned on being away for 1-2 weeks (at the most) for a trial in San Diego.  One week turned into two, two turned into three - three turned into seven.  Yes, my  husband came home each Friday night to Sunday morning, but the man was gone for seven weeks, including my birthday.  And for the first time in my life I had no one to make my birthday special except for me - so I am pretty sure that is the reason it was quite fabulous.  Jeremy and I went to celebrate with Zach at school.  Then, my friends at work had the most adorable cupcake stand and lunch waiting for me when I arrived.  For dinner, my mom, dad, and I celebrated at Mastro's.  The three of us had not been to dinner together for so many years, I have completely lost track.  Then we had cupcakes an candles with the boys and their grandmom!  Josh surprised me with an afternoon gift certificate to the Four Seasons.  For those of you that know me well, I pretty much despise my birthday; not this year!  It was wonderful!!
